Dakota Johnson has one heck of a cheerleader in mom Melanie Griffith. While the Working Girl actress may not be keen to see her daughter naked and behaving very, well, maturely in Fifty Shades of Grey, she was more than happy to lend her support when Johnson hosted Saturday Night Live in New York City on Feb. 28.
After joining ex-husband Don Johnson in the audience at Rockefeller Center's Studio 8H this weekend, Griffith, 57, rewatched Johnson's SNL performance on TV — and she couldn't have been prouder.
She killed it!!! Wow! I loved her poise, her comic timing, her grace, loved everything she did!! Dakota on SNL..?????????????? pic.twitter.com/jgRs2gocfR

Johnson actually acknowledged her famous mom during her opening monologue on Saturday, saying, "It's really incredible that I'm standing on this stage right now, because in December of 1988, my mother stood in this exact spot and hosted SNL."
She went on to share a little anecdote about her parents, who were married twice, first for six months in 1976, and then from 1989 to 1994.
"And this is true, this is true," she continued. "Right after the show, my father got down on one knee and proposed to [my mother] for the second time. And exactly nine months later, I was born…So I must've been conceived that night after the show or maybe even during the show. Isn't that right, you guys?"
The camera then panned over to Griffith and the Miami Vice actor, who were sitting in the audience and shielding their eyes. "What's wrong? Are you embarrassed that I told that story?" she asked the now-exes.
"No, no, no," dad Don replied. "We were just afraid that you were gonna be naked."
Johnson kept her clothes on, but her hosting stint wasn't without some controversy. At one point during the show, she participated in a sketch about a young girl going off to join ISIS, which many felt crossed a line. She also paid tribute to the late Leonard Nimoy in a Star Trek-themed ER sketch, poked fun at the Fifty Shades press tour, and put a funny spin on the whole concept on net neutrality.
