After Sherri Shepherd's surprise Dancing With the Stars elimination Tuesday, all The View cohost wanted was some alone time.
Skipping her post-show interview duties with media outlets including Us Weekly, Shepherd, who got the boot with Val Chmerkovskiy, bypassed the press line in an unexpected and surprising move.
"She was crying pretty hard post show and everyone was hugging her," a source at the DWTS studio told Us. "It's highly unusual for [the eliminated celeb] to skip press, especially someone who seemed to have a good attitude like Sherri."
Though she may have been distraught, Shepherd, 44, did have reason to cut her post-show plans short. A second DWTS insider explains that the ousted star had an obligation to chat with Jimmy Kimmel and then catch a red-eye flight back to New York to return to The View.
"It was a very big surprise [to be eliminated]," Shepherd, in better spirits, later told Kimmel on Tuesday's Jimmy Kimmel Live. "Carrie Ann [Inaba] said she's never seen me so expressionless, and I'm an actress, so that's like telling Gladys Knight she can't sing. As an actress, Carrie Ann's going to get me blacklisted," she joked.
As she resumes her normal routine in New York City, Shepherd says appreciates the support she received from her View cohosts.
"Barbara [Walters] voted 12 times the first week, Elisabeth [Hasselbeck] tweeted [about it], Joy [Behar] was rooting for me — I know all my ladies were there for me every step of the way," she told Kimmel.
