An insider tells UsMagazine.com that actress Doris Roberts "cannot stand Betty White." The Everybody Loves Raymond alum, 79, considers 88-year-old White "her main competition," the source claims -- and White's recent resurgence in popularity has only fueled the flames.
"Doris feels she has more comedic timing," the insider explains. "If she reads for a part and finds out that Betty also went for it and books it, she'll literally shred the script!"
Hogwash, Roberts tells Us exclusively. "Why would I not want the best for her? She's great!" Roberts says.
The actress adds: "I admire her tremendously. I'm so pleased that things are happening for her, because she's showing us that anybody over the age of 50 is perfectly capable of doing all these things. She's our leader."
The star hasn't yet met White -- but would love to work with her -- perhaps on Saturday Night Live! "I would like to play her cousin," she suggests. "[Betty] has such great vitality!"
