Doug Ross and Carol Hathaway forever! Movies and TV collided in more than one way on Sunday, Jan. 13, when former ER costars George Clooney and Julianna Margulies reunited on the red carpet for the 70th annual Golden Globe Awards.
The Argo producer and his long-ago onscreen love interest, nominated for Best Actress for The Good Wife, embraced warmly when they ran into each other at the Beverly Hilton Hotel before the show. Margulies had just finished an interview with E! News host Ryan Seacrest when Clooney walked up with girlfriend Stacy Keibler.
"You look beautiful!" he gushed to the 46-year-old nominee, who wore a stunning, backless, black lace gown by Pucci. Later, responding to Seacrest's question about how long the two had known each other, he said, "Several years. We met several years ago."
Nearly two decades ago, to be more specific. Clooney first rose to fame as Dr. Doug Ross on the NBC drama in 1994. He starred on the series until 1999 and then left to pursue other projects. But he made a couple of cameos, first in the show's sixth season in 1999, and then again in the final season in 2009.
Margulies appeared as Nurse Carol Hathaway from 1994 to 2000. She also made a cameo alongside Clooney in 2009.
