Ahead of her headlining gig, Rihanna, 28, was named a global ambassador for education. The "Work" singer's Clara Lionel Foundation announced a multiyear partnership with the Global Partnership for Education and Global Citizen on Friday, September 23.
"I feel strongly that all children everywhere should be afforded the opportunity of a quality education," Rihanna said in a statement. "Working together, I know we can amplify our efforts and ensure that millions of children gain access to education globally."
Last year, Beyoncé, Coldplay, Pearl Jam and Ed Sheeran joined forces to headline the 2015 Global Citizen Festival. The star-studded event included several once-in-a-lifetime collaborations, including Beyoncé and Sheeran, who sang an acoustic rendition of her hit "Drunk in Love."
