How to Get Away With Murder Recap: Is Levi Eggs 911?

Viola Davis
Annalise Keating (Viola Davis) takes the stand in court on How to Get Away With Murder.

How to Get Away With Murder may only be two episodes into its second season, but this series is not slowing down when it comes to shocking reveals. Because, as it turns out, Annalise (Viola Davis) wasn’t the only one shot during the two-month flash forward at what now deserves to be called Murder Mansion. And let’s not forget about the new mystery character who was introduced. Could he be the receiver of that “Eggs 911” message? Let’s dig in!

The Frame Game

If Caleb (Kendrick Sampson) and Catherine (Amy Okuda) looked guilty of murder before, that’s nothing compared to how they looked after their aunt’s body was found, especially since she was the only eyewitness in their trial. They had nothing to lose and everything to gain from her death — a fact that was made all the more evident once Caleb’s DNA was found at the crime scene. Caleb pleaded to Annalise that they were being framed, which actually turned out to be true. But after some sleuth-y detective work on Oliver’s (Conrad Ricamora) part, Team Keating was able to prove that the police had actually planted Caleb’s DNA on his aunt’s car. It’s still unclear who exactly has it out for these two and why, but Round One of the arraignment goes to Annalise & Co.

Trials and Tribulations

It was time for Nate’s (Billy Brown) preliminary hearing and the prosecutor, Emily Sinclair (Sarah Burns), was out for blood. Annalise’s blood, to be exact. She treated Annalise as if she were the one on trial. And since Nate was unwilling to lie about having a confrontation with Sam (Tom Verica) on the night he was killed (thus explaining how his fingerprints got on the ring), Eve (Famke Janssen) was forced to turn the tables on Annalise and make her look like the guilty one. In the end, the judge ruled for both sides to put together a new case since it was hard to tell who the actual suspect was. But in the meantime, Nate was free to go.

Another One Bites the Dust

Flash foward to two months into future: Wes (Alfred Enoch) is seen running away from where Annalise was shot, only this time he met up with Michaela (Aja Naomi King) and Laurel (Karla Souza), who apparently were expecting him. Wes asked where Connor (Jack Falahee) was. It turns out, he was still inside the mansion, trying desperately to tend to Annalise’s gunshot wound. “This is all your fault,” he scolded. The others eventually convinced Connor to just leave her there, but as they exited the building, they passed by the dead body of none other than Emily Sinclair. So it looks like Annalise wasn’t the only person targeted that night.

Eggs Over Easy

But it wasn’t all doom and gloom. At the courthouse, Michaela received a special surprise when a very attractive guy named Levi (Matt Cohen) blatantly hit on her. And while she initially rejected his advances, a little coaxing from Connor made her have a change of heart. But like with most things on this show, nothing (or rather, no one) is ever introduced without a specific reason. And given that Wes just recently came across a picture of both Levi and Rebecca (Katie Findlay), there’s clearly more to this new guy than meets the eye. Eggs 911, is that you?

How to Get Away With Murder airs on Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET on ABC.
