Idol's Pia Toscano: "It Was My Time to Go"
Pia Toscano is taking her bad news in stride.
Although the singer, beloved by the judges, was shockingly eliminated from American Idol on Thursday's show, Toscano was calm and philosophical during a Friday conference call with reporters.
Why didn't Idol viewers call in their support for the 22-year-old New Yorker, whom Jennifer Lopez deemed "out of this world"?
"I really don't know," Toscano told UsMagazine.com. "You can't really say why I got voted off."
She speculated: "It could have been people maybe assumed I was safe, [or] maybe they didn't. Maybe there was a lack of connection."
The songbird certainly had a connection with Idol's judges, who were devastated by Thursday's turn of events. "I'm shocked," Lopez said. "I'm angry. I don't know what to say."
"I'm gutted," added Randy Jackson. "I'm never upset on this show and never mad, but this makes me mad."
"You don't know for sure why things happen, but you know, it did!" Toscano continued on Friday. "It was my time to go on the show and I'm excited to see what my future holds."
Toscano had one other comment for Us: "I love your magazine! I love it!"
