Jesse James opens up for the first time about cheating on Sandra Bullock in an interview with Nightline that will be previewed on Good Morning America next Tuesday.

"I took a pretty amazing life and marriage and threw it away," admits James, 41.

James discusses his time in rehab and describes what led him to cheat on Bullock, 45, with tattoo model Michelle "Bombshell" McGee.

"I think I'm the most hated man in the world now," he says while laughing.

Later, he chokes up and says, "Let me take a break for a second."

The new issue of Us Weekly has exclusive photos of Bullock and her 4-month-old adopted baby boy, Louis Bardo.

Baby store owner Jennifer Mazuelos tells Us that Bullock appeared to be "such a natural" while shopping for clothes with her fussy son in Austin, Tex. on May 14: "She was like, 'Oh, he needs to be held. She...was so easygoing and chill."

After a devastating couple months -- the revelation of husband Jesse James' multiple affairs and a late-April divorce filing -- the Oscar-winner is finally settling into full-time motherhood.

"Sandra is loving it!" a pal tells Us.

Adds another: "Having Louis around is perfect therapy for what she went through with Jesse."

PHOTOS: Adorable A-list babies!

While Bullock never considered adopting alone prior to her shocking split, her unexpected single parenthood has been "an extraordinary lesson for her," a friend says.

He deserves it. Sandra is a lovely woman and any man would be lucky 2 be with her. I was worried when I found out they were getting married, b/c he's all tattos and junk cars and she's just a funny beautiful person. My heart goes out 2 her and her new son (he's soooooo adorable). One day, she will get past this and get on with her life.

well...I always liked Jesse James on Monster Garage (great show) Sandra is a good woman who obviously has values and cheating is a TOUGH pill to swallow, no matter how much love there is- I hope all the best for them both

well...I always liked Jesse James on Monster Garage (GOOD SHOW!) He is a typical guy--- hard to keep. I feel bad for both of them because Sandra is a good woman who obviously has values and was good for Jesse-- he was a POTENTIALLY good husband who messed up big time-- some can forgive infidelity while others can't/won't and who could blame them because cheating is a TOUGH pill to swallow, no matter how much love there is...I hope all the best for them both

May 21, 2010 - 8:11pm Why Says: Why can't a man be happy with a great woman? This is a great question...I guess because men --some men are just weak and stupid. Plain and simple, and they don't care about consequences until it is too late. Sad, but at least Sandra is moving on and away with her new life and beautiful new baby.

If he is so guilty and knows he screwed up, he should stay in LA with his callgirls.

If he is so guilty and knows he screwed up, he should willingly let go of everything he is entitled to in the divorce. It doesn't belong to him.

Oh he sure did. Jesse threw away good marriage a good wife. When he made a public apology. Sometimes i wondered was he sorry for his actions? or sorry that he was caught? A leopard can't change his spots. In other words Jesse will never quit his playboy ways. He's not the husband material. He deserves to be with a life of low class bimbos. Sandra was&is always too good for him. She's too much of a lady. Compare to the cheap good time strays he's been associating with. Sandra has moved on. And not looking back. Good for her.

Oh he sure did. Jesse threw away a good marriage. A perfectly good wife. Sandra was always too good for him. She's too much of a lady. Compare to the low life trashy strays he's been associating with. He doesn't deserve someone like her. A leopard can't change his spots. Meaning Jesse will never change his playboy ways. When he gave an apology. Sometimes i wonder is he sorry his actions? Or was he sorry getting caught? But i'm so glad Sandra is moving on. And not looking back.

Jesse James will always be what he is; a womanizing bimbo loving bad boy. He tried to break the mold with Bullock and she wanted to believe that he had changed. He is what he is and should remain single. He's another Charlie Sheen. Bullock cannot change him, if any woman believes she can change a man, she has a screw loose. People change because THEY want to and it would be foolish to think that James, at his age, is really going to change.

It is a sad ending for Jesses' kids. It is a sad ending for him. He had an amazing woman and threw it away. It is my hope he will be honest with himself and family so that he can work towards a healthier way of life.

@ Brandi...sounds from experience. Was your man as well not satisfied? I still have hope on good men out there. Many cheat but there is still good ones.

  • May 22, 2010 - 4:23pm Paige

PJ: I read your post and I agree with what you said 100% but I have to wonder if Jesse realizes that he has deep seated issues my guess is that he does not, and will therefore cheat again. I know everyone will think I'm crazy for what I'm about to say but I actually feel sorry for the guy, because in his eyes and his manerisms I sense a man that is so screwed up and has no idea why, he has no idea why he did this, I highly recommend a therapist to Jesse and hope that one day he learns that a stable, mature person does not cheat and wreck his/her own home and family. Everyone has arguments and disagreements, everyone becomes sick of our significant other from time to time, but when your emotional and mentally stable you wait that period out and it always passes and the good time return.

This is just pure proof that no matter how great of a woman you are, a man is never satisified. I commend her for walking away from the relationship. Some women stay in it, think the man will change and the man NEVER changes. I hope he learns a valuable lesson from this and the next relationship he enters into, he thinks with his head rather than his penis!

The only thing that Mr Big Man did on TV was prove to the world what an ass he really is. Those tears and confession wasn't for the fact he lost his family - he was sending a message to all those tattooed covered slores he's screws with that he'll be back. Just like Tiger Woods, all he has to do his go to rehab, make a public confession, and next month he'll be back doing it again. I hope your business fails, your friends dump you, and you find the rest of your life a lonely, miserable existence. You don't deserve one ounce of sympathy - only pity for being the man you chose to be. I hope Sandra takes that beautiful baby and raises him to be the man she though you were. Go ride your bike down some long and winding road and don't come back. No one likes you, no one needs you and no one wants you Big Guy. You are simply DONE.
