Jon Gosselin is getting a reality check.

Though he made about $75,000 per episode for TLC's Jon & Kate Plus 8, the new issue of Us Weekly (on stands now) reports that Gosselin has traded in his studded Ed Hardy duds for a hard hat. Rising at dawn each morning, the former reality star makes $35 an hour laying solar panels.

Despite the physical work, a source tells Us he's put on pounds: "He has an inner tube again!"

The former bad boy -- who once sipped champagne on a yacht while vacationing in France -- has also been forced to tone down his party boy behavior.

Instead of splurging on expensive dinner dates, Gosselin, 33, spends most nights shacking up at girlfriend Ellen Ross' home, where a source says "her yappy dogs pee on his stuff."

A typical night for the two? Eating "cheap takeout and watching Jersey Shore."

Doesen't anyone remember rotten she was?? When she took a breath she talked down to him. Never saw her treat him like he mattered. Look at the early shows. I can't belive he put up with her as long as he did!!!

$35? That's what Kate spent on each strand of that weave.

US what a stupid article. The guy is staying out of the media, working an honest job and minding his own biz. And you make up stories to try and sell your lame magazine. LOL

Plus, he gets money from Kate Plus Eight reruns. I too, wonder if he pays child support.

Luckily Burger King has a 99 cent menu!!!!! So he can have a burger, fries, a shake ,and an apple pie all for under 5 bucks! What a deal!

Does the jerk pay child support. He still is living off of a woman to some extent, if he shacks up at his girl friends house. She's in her early 20's or so..$35 an hour is a good income.

He's lucky he can even AFFORD to order takeout, with 8 kids he has to support!

Frig... I wish I made $35 an hour!! I don't think Jon should have to pay child support, considering Kate still brings in a nice hefty pay cheque. I'm sure she's making over $500,000 a year herself alone... or more. Also, what's wrong with eating take-out and staying in watching TV? Mind you, Jersey Shore is a poor choice, but frig. I'm really happy for Jon. At least he's making himself an honest living.

And are we suppose to feel bad? NOT!!! He ought to be grateful that he has a job. Can't believe that he didn't find an agent to get him some book deals and etc.

Most people would kill for $35 an hour. But that's nothing when you have eight kids, if he is even paying any kind of support.

  • March 03, 2011 - 11:49am Elda Reyes

at least he's working, 35 an hour is a lot of money to me!

He's damned either way, isn't he? He was a 'loser' when he didn't work...now he has a job making decent money and he's still branded as a 'loser'. At least he got his act together. The same cannot be said for Kate. And I certainly hope that US isn't claiming that the 'cheap' take out food is coming from The Pike Cafe here in Reading...because it's a SUPERB restaurant...and US slammed it about a year or so ago.
