Josh Murray: 5 Things to Know About Bachelorette Andi Dorfman's Fiance
Meet Josh Murray! Bachelorette Andi Dorfman's hunky new fiance not only loves her—he loves his bulldog, his mama, his NFL-player brother, his friends, God, and life in general. Us Weekly takes an in-depth look at the amiable and goofy recipient of Dorfman's final rose. Get the details!
1. He Comes From a Family of Athletes
Murray's TV persona as the upbeat jock matches his real-life athletic background! Murray was a former baseball pro who was drafted immediately out of high school by the Milwaukee Brewers organization. The 29-year-old financial services rep played in the minors for five years, when he realized that it was time to return home. "I fell out of love with baseball after one year in the minors," he said in a 2010 interview with a local Memphis paper.
Murray returned home, and transferred to the University of Georgia to complete his degree in business management. There, he became a walk-on safety for Georgia's football team, but his younger brother Aaron Murray turned out to be the real gridiron star. Aaron was the team's quarterback, and was eventually drafted by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round of the 2014 NFL Draft.
2. He's Loyal to His Family and Friends
His pals adore him! Murray's buddy David Greene described him to Us Weekly as "one of the funniest guys I've ever met." Added Greene, "He doesn't care who you are. Everyone's his friend."
Dorfman reaffirmed this claim on the July 14 episode of the show. "I have so much fun with Josh," Andi said, noting that Murray "just says whatever is on his mind and is funny and endearing."
Murray's former Georgia classmate Stephen Ochs told Us that Murray was one of the most loyal people he knew. "He's very protective," Ochs said of the winning suitor. "His friends know he's someone who is going to have their backs."
Even fourth-place runner-up Marcus Grodd (the culprit behind this hilarious photobomb of Murray) told Us before the finale aired that he hoped "Josh ends up with Andi!"
3. He Loves His Dog
The true star of Murray's social media accounts is Sabel the dog, who is lovingly included in the star's Twitter handle @jmurbulldog. The 6'2'' former pro-athlete has a huge soft spot for his beloved pet, and frequently posts pictures to his Instagram account of their adventures. Whether it's the two spending Valentine's Day together, or hitting the road "to Tampa to see the fam!" Murray's love for Sabel shines bright on social.
While Murray was away filming The Bachelorette, his workout buddy Jason King was tasked with watching after Sabel. "I look up to him," King said of Murray. "He gives great advice."
4. He's Never Been in a Committed Relationship
Murray's college buddy Ochs told Us that the tall, dark and handsome stud has "never been in a committed relationship, that I can remember."
Before he even appeared on The Bachelorette, Murray expressed via Instagram what he looks for in that special someone. "One of these days ill find a woman as special as my mama, one of these days …" he wrote alongside a throwback snap of him wearing his Georgia football gear while standing with his mom on the field.
Indeed, he found that in Dorfman, 27, whom he described late Monday evening as "beautiful" and "the love of my life" in a new Instagram post after the finale aired. Murray added, "I've waited 29 years to find her and it's been well worth the wait! God is soooooo great! #VeryBlessed #ForeverKindOfLove."
5. He's a Spiritual Man
Speaking of blessings, the Southern gentleman is a spiritual one, too. Murray frequently updates his social media accounts with Bible verses and inspirational updates expressing gratitude to God for his #veryblessed life. On Sunday, July 27, he tweeted: "Every single day is a gift from God, I feel so blessed just to be alive. #thankful #GodIsGreat."
On Monday, before the finale of The Bachelorette aired, Murray shared with fans: "Regardless of the outcome tonight, thank you ALL for your unconditional support and love, it has truly meant everything to me! #veryblessed." He followed up with a verse from the Bible, which read: "'Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you ......' -Matthew 7: 7-8 #GodIsGreat."
