It's likely that Ancient Egyptians didn't have proper dentists, but Katy Perry is taking the concept a bit too far. The over-the-top singer released the video teaser for her "Dark Horse" music video, which clearly has a Cleopatra theme.

The 30-second teaser starts off with drawings that resemble Egyptian hieroglyphics declaring that Perry, 29, is now queen "Katy Patra" -- the object of many kings' desires "from Brooklyn to Babylon."

Asking "Who will win her heart?", the video cuts to a set of doors opening to reveal the "Teenage Dream" crooner decked in a giant headdress, large black braids (meant to look like Elizabeth Taylor's version of Cleopatra), bright purple and gold eyeshadow, and exaggerated, thematic eyeliner.

But the most shocking look is Perry's gem-crusted grill that appears as she flashes and sparkly smile. The giant purple, clear, and blue stones appear to be attached to her teeth in an uneven fashion.

The video for her latest number one single, featuring rapper Juicy J, drops on Feb. 20, is likely to be filled with plenty of funky anachronisms and colorful Katy Perry touches.

John Mayer's love has been exploring very specific cultural themes and motifs lately, with her "Roar" video set in a Tarzan-esque jungle, her American Music Awards performance of "Unconditionally" set in a geisha-filled Japan, and her rendition of "Dark Horse" at the Grammys featuring witches during the Salem trials.
