What would Simon Cowell say about this?

After her stint as a mentor on The Voice (where she helped coach members of Team Blake), the original American Idol, Kelly Clarkson, has signed on to another show guaranteed to give Idol and X Factor a run for their money: ABC's Duets.

The music competition series, premiering this summer, will pair celebrity mentors with vocalists hoping for their big breaks. Each week, contestants will take the stage to perform alongside their mentors in front of a live audience.

Clarkson's fellow Voice mentors Lionel Richie and Robin Thicke, as well as Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles, are also slated to head up teams for the program.

Earlier this month, Clarkson, 29, opened up to Rolling Stone about Idol fans taking her involvement with other music-focused reality shows way too seriously.

"People have given me such a hard time," the "Mr. Know It All" chanteuse told the magazine. "I came from a singing show, so I like singing shows, obviously. What was the big shocker there?"
