A simpler time. The Sunday, October 23, episode of 60 Minutes featured a pre-robbery Kim Kardashian speaking openly to correspondent Bill Whitaker about the monetization of her very public life in a segment about how advertisers reach millennials. Kim Kardashian Wouldn’t Have a Career Without Social Media

Kardashian ‘Monetized the Act of Living’

When Whitaker said, “You monetized the act of living,” the reality star and video-game mogul agreed, “Yeah. I guess so.” It remains to be seen whether a post-robbery Kardashian will try to refocus her monetization of “living” to be less about her private life and more about her business ventures.

Kardashian Insisted That Her Brand Is Her ‘Talent’

During the interview, Kardashian took a moment to address claims that her success isn’t rooted in any “talent.” The Selfish author insisted, “It is a talent to have a brand that’s really successful off of getting people to like you for you.” The Keeping Up With the Kardashians fixture, whose life has been documented on just about every type of medium since at least 2007, insisted, “I would think that has to involve some kind of talent, you know?”

Kardashian Believed the Pros of Public Life Outweighed the Cons

The star assured Whitaker, “I do believe that the pros in my situation and my lifestyle have been more beneficial than the negative things.” Considering this interview took place before the life-changing trauma that Kardashian endured, viewers can only speculate as to whether or not her opinion on this has evolved.

Kardashian Hinted at Enjoying the $$$ Aspect of Her Lifestyle

Whitaker asked, “The money’s not bad?” and Kardashian quickly responded with a smirk, saying, “Not bad.” We’re assuming that’s a bit of an understatement.
