Late-night screenings of Michael Jackson's This Is It have earned $2.2 million at the North America box office, the Associated Press reports.
Based on rehearsal footage shot while Jackson -- who died in June at age 50 -- was preparing for his series of comeback concerts in London, the movie premiered worldwide Tuesday night. Sony, the documentary's distributor, said the opening night numbers were "unprecedented" for a Tuesday in October.

I saw it today. It was AMAZINGLY AWESOME. It was like you were actually there watching him rehearse and even joke around. At the end, it was sad because it made you realize that his is gone. NO ONE left until the screen was blank. I love you Michael. RIP.
hey Kaly, why dont you get on a personals comments line wassup?your way off track everyones givin' there opinions about this dead guy,do you have fantasies about older mikey?yeah, who cares what ur boy frend thinks ...beat it..u and ur thriller.
I saw it on opening night! It was fantastic. When you entered, you got a This Is It lanyard/ID to wear and keep. Human Nature, Beat It & I Just Can't Stop Loving You were amazing performances! Right before the movie, people who dressed like Michael got to karaoke to his music as it pumped through the speakers. Then whole first row of people jumped up and performed a couple of MJ's dance numbers, including Thriller...nice surprise and fun night. The movie was inspiring! Best $10 I've spent in a long time. Go see it.
