Michael Jackson received five American Music Awards nominations posthumously on Tuesday. Among his nods, the star -- who died June 25 at the age of 51 -- is in the running for Artist of the Year.

Jackson was also nominated in the "Pop or Rock Music" category for Favorite Male Artist -- against Eminem and the incarcerated rapper T.I. -- and for Favorite Album. His disk, Number Ones, is nominated alongside Lady Gaga's Fame and Taylor Swift's Fearless.

He was also nominated for Favorite Male Artist and Favorite Album in the "Soul/R&B Music" category.

His nomination for Artist of the Year pits him against Eminem, Lady Gaga, Taylor Swift and Kings of Leon.

The AMAs will broadcast live in L.A. on Nov. 22 at 8 p.m. ESTD on ABC. For the third year, winners will be determined by online voting at the AMA's official site.

    Wow! That's great about MJ. I didn't know you can be nominated for albums that came out years ago.
