Life after Live! Michael Strahan is in good spirits following his exit from Live with Kelly and Michael. The former NFL player opened up about his first week at Good Morning America at his MSX fashion presentation in NYC on Wednesday, May 18.
“Phenomenal. Amazing. Love it,” Strahan, 44, said at the event. “Amazing people!”
Strahan exited the ABC daytime talk show last Friday after four years. “This is a moment that I didn’t anticipate being here, at least at this point. But it’s here. And we’re going to enjoy it,” Strahan said on his final day. “I’m not dying. I’m still in the family. And I’m still available to come back if I’m ever called to cohost. I’m not going anywhere. I’m not gone. So, there we go.”
Kelly Ripa, meanwhile, has carried on since his departure. (As previously reported, the mom of three, 45, was blindsided by Strahan’s GMA full-time gig news and took a sick day after finding out.) This week, several fellow stars have filled in as guest cohosts. The logo was changed to Live with Kelly on Monday, too.
Strahan’s replacement has yet to be determined. As Us exclusively revealed last month, Ripa wants either Andy Cohen or Anderson Cooper to come on board. “Unless one of them can come on, she doesn’t really want to do it,” a source told Us. The insider added that Jerry O’Connell is in the running to takeover.
