The good ole’ Griswolds are back together again! Leslie Mann is the latest star to be in talks to join the highly-anticipated National Lampoon’s Vacation reboot, Vacation, which is set to start shooting in Louisiana next week.
The comedic actress would play Audrey Griswold, the grown-up daughter of Clark Griswold (played previously by Chevy Chase) and Ellen Griswold (Beverly D’Angelo), according to The Hollywood Reporter. She’d join The Office alum Ed Helms (Rusty Griswold), Christina Applegate (Debbie Griswold) and Chris Hemsworth (Stone Crandall). Chase and D’Angelo are expected to make appearances.
John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein will be making their directorial debut for the comedy, which is a sequel to the 1983 flick. National Lampoon’s Vacation was the first time audiences were introduced to Chase’s Clark Griswold, but certainly not the last.
The former Saturday Night Live and Community actor reprised his role in 1985’s European Vacation and Vegas Vacation in 1997. The most famous of the series, however, is a holiday favorite — 1989’s Christmas Vacation. (“It’s not going in the yard, Russ!”)
The late ’80s film starred D’Angelo, The Big Bang Theory’s Johnny Galecki as Rusty, and Juliette Lewis as Audrey. The gang celebrated (and tried to survive) the holidays with their relatives despite shutting down the town’s electricity with their elaborate Christmas lights, having a squirrel tear up their living room, and dealing with cousin Eddie’s s–t — literally.
