Woof.

In a stunt for 92.3's Rollin' Radio program, Nick Cannon pretended to attach approximately 50 balloons to cohost Sarah Lee's Pomeranian Charlie Roo on Thursday. Shortly after the incident, Cannon claimed that Charlie Roo had flown away and was missing.

Thankfully, Cannon's stunt was a hoax. Although Rollin's website said the prank went "a little too far" and pleaded to fans to "help find" Charlie Roo, Cannon released a video explaining that Lee's puppy was perfectly fine.

"I won a bet with Sarah Lee, and I'm about to play the meanest joke on her ever," Cannon, 31, explained in a clip shot prior to the incident. "This whole time I've been acting like I don't like dogs, but I really love dogs. I'm a dog person… But I'm pretending that I want to float Charlie Roo with balloons!"

"I'm not really gonna float a dog," Mariah Carey's hubby clarified. "I'm gonna float a stuffed animal that looks just like Charlie Roo. If you happen to find the fake Charlie Roo, attached to it, there'll be some Katy Perry tickets."

Cannon then tied a small stuffed animal in a pink coat to approximately fifty balloons and videotaped the incident. He then went along with the joke on Twitter, telling fans: "I think I might be getting fired. Radio gone seriously wrong… People are acting like I'm [Michael] Vick. I apologize. Now get over it."

Fortunately the real Charlie Roo was put in "a nice, safe place," while the lookalike stuffed animal was flown away. Even before Cannon released a video confirming the incident was a joke and no dogs were endangered, PETA suspected the America's Got Talent host was kidding around.

"If bad taste were a crime, we'd be going to jail with Nick," the animal rights' organization said in a statement. "But joking about killing a dog, a kid, an old person -- anyone -- isn't cool when there's always the danger that some numbskull will do it for real."

"Had it been true, Nick would have PETA to worry about," the statement continued. "And that's far worse than going to Rikers Island [prison]."

Cannon's rep told Us he will address the situation on 92.3's Rollin' on Friday.

Anyone who actually thought that it was real is just really stupid.

  • November 11, 2011 - 9:40am Sharon Shade

What he did was cruel and dangerous - some damn fool kid is going to actually try and do this with a real pet. Then what? When you have a public forum, you have a duty not to throw something out there in the universe that could tempt idiots to duplicate.

Now are people mad at him, because everyone is simply that stupid to believe that something like that is possible? I was laughing at the stupidity of the people calling in and these comments.

I think the prank was funny, I mean really what person in their right mind would actually try to float a real dog with balloons anyway. Nick is hilarious ! He makes my ride to work enjoyable and all others who disagree need to stop taking life so seriously, I say keep the jokes coming nick!

Society holds people in your profession at a higher standard. If you can not handle it, just be a house husband to your spouse until she gets tired of you. Since you are too ignorant, these are the key issues you can not be doing prunks: pets (who can not stick up for themselves), kids (no explanation required), GLBTS, and blacks. To make it easy for everybody, get over it and get off the air.

It's nice to see that Nick Cannon is as untalented on the radio as he was on "America's Got Talent." Go back to being overshadowed by your wife & children, you jerk.

Sorry I don't find this funny. Will it be funny when someone that follows him tries it out on a real puppy? Sorry I missed the humor in this stunt. Maybe he should go to a shelter and look at some of the abused animals that were beaten, set on fire etc. just for fun. I am the owner of three abused Dalmatians and find no humor in this stunt.
