Well, that didn't take very long.

Nicki Minaj exploded at Mariah Carey during American Idol auditions Tuesday in Charlotte, North Carolina -- going off on a potty-mouthed rant after perceived slights from her fellow judge.

In a video obtained by TMZ, the "Starships" rapper (one of three new Idol judges along with Carey and Keith Urban) snapped after she and the singer disagreed over a constestant.

"Get this s**t in control. Get in control," Minaj, 29, says. Although veteran judge urges Minaj to "settled down," she continues, "Don't lose your head . . . don't tell me I'm a gangster."

As Carey protests inaudibly, Minaj adds, "Every time you patronize me, I'm-ma take it back, and if you've got a f**king problem, handle it."

" I told them I'm not f**kin' putting up with her f**king highness over there. Figure it the f**k out. Figure it out," she rants.

"I'm not gonna sit here every f**king minute to have you come down and harass me every minute everyday," she tells the "It's Like That" singer, 42.

Shortly after Minaj and Carey were confirmed as joining the show, they both poo-pooed speculation over a brooding feud. "A feud takes longer than three days," Carey told Us.

Indeed, show insiders initially told Us any tensions between the pair were "totally spun for publicity."

Still, although Minaj "respects Mariah" according to one source, another says she can be "difficult to work with . . . She can be very demanding."

As for Carey? "She loves Nicki, but she wants to be the only diva," another source says.
