Us Rating: **

Could the Dixie Chicks make it without provocative Natalie Maines? Listening to this side project by the trio's backup members, sisters Emily Robison and Martie Maguire, the answer seems to be no. Robison's lead vocals sound like a weak imitation of Sheryl Crow, and even the lyrics inspired by her 2008 divorce (from singer Charlie Robison) add little spark. Still, it has a few bright spots, like the lively ditty "The Coast." (Columbia)
