Where were we? Oh, yes: The high school choir misfits -- led by adviser Mr. Schuester (a solid Matthew Morrison) -- had just won sectionals, while their nemesis, cheerleading coach Sue (Jane Lynch), got suspended. Now, a defiant Sue has blackmailed her way back to work, setting the stage for more sabotage. As the devilish fun rises, the characters' romantic entanglements become increasingly absorbing -- notably when Rachel (Lea Michele) meets a slick male rival (Jonathan Groff) who tries to make a move on her. What makes Glee such an innovative triumph, though, are the rollicking musical moments, and tonight is no exception. From Michele's sassy take on the All-American Rejects' "Gives You Hell" to the cast's moving version of the Beatles' "Hello, Goodbye," the show's clever mashup of songs -- combined with the stars' deep emotional performances -- keeps everything humming beautifully.
