Sandra Bullock is putting her money where her mouth is.

The Oscar-winning actress and single mom, 46, donated $1 million to the American Red Cross toward earthquake and tsunami relief efforts in Japan, the charity told CNN on Thursday.

It's the largest donation made by a celebrity yet in the wake of the 9.0 magnitude earthquake that hit the island nation last Friday -- triggering devastating tsunamis, leaving thousands dead, untold devastation and a weakened nuclear power plant.

She seems so wonderful. I really wish these other celebrities had half the Class that Sandra has! God Bless Her in all of her endeavor's!

  • March 21, 2011 - 10:27am Amy Nguyen

I thank you so much for her generosity

It was very nice and generous of her with caring and merciful heart. Her merciful attitude is Christlike. This is not her first donation to the people in other countries who had to face severe tragedy due to natural disaster such as big earth quake and tsunami. I was deeply impressed with her true caring attitude and donation toward Japanese and others who had to face unexpected tragedy. May the Lord surely pour upon her, Sandra Bullock many blessings in her life.

I hope those of you making negative comments never have to experience losing thousands of people from your city and seeing a complete wipe out of your neighborhood areas.

    Awesome! Love Sandra! Total class.

I can't believe some of you find her charity to be a negative thing. All you who think she shouldn't donate to Japan and should give HER money to the USA should try reading the actual news and realize that if Japan is doing badly America suffers as well. DOW was down 240 points yesterday at closing simply because there MIGHT be an issue with the nuclear power plants in Japan. Stay classy Sandra!

We do need to take care of America, we are cutting back on police, teachers etc now to save money. Seems we are falling apart. Brad and Angelina are jokes, they donated part of their kids money and the rest was donated to brads fund by us the people. She's our ambassador and never makes any statements (no movie to promote), she's BS..during the Haiti crisis it took her almost 7 weeks to even make a statement, after all the other celebrities donated money for Haiti. Angelina never does anything unless it benefits Angelina. Period.

Sandra is always the FIRST to donate if things like this happens. But Brad and Angie are always thought of as saints when they do it.

I believe she donated a million dollars after Hurricane Katrina. However, where she decides to donate to is her business. If she wants to donate to "Save the Paperclips," so be it.

  • March 17, 2011 - 2:23pm Lisa Gajewski

Sandra always donates to relief funds and it should be noted that she donated $1M when Katrina took place. She is simply helping out people and places in need. More people should follow her example.

Where did she donate that money to and does she know exactly how it will be utilized other than claiming it as a charity gift deduction. Stars are quick to donate to other countries but what about their own? Charity begins at home and they should research where money etc. can be best used in the good ole USA

Where are our goodwill ambassadors and humanitarians, these poor people are in a horrible situation. America is going bankrupt, we need to cut back on welfare and government assistance, or make these freeloaders go out and work and their pay turned over to the government. We need to stop making rich people even richer.

Why should Sandra donate money to a failing economy? Japan isn't at all at fault for causing the earthquake, but I'm sure this country deserves more donations for having poor spending habits.

  • March 17, 2011 - 1:19pm Lavina Boykin

Some people see the negative in everything. SMDH

  • March 17, 2011 - 1:10pm Jade Ali

Uhh okay Sandra thanks but can you donate that money to the USA's failing, ever so exceedingly, economy??

Diner Japan's earthquake not harmful for only Japan but it harmful for many neighbor country. Nuclear radiator are flowing over many countries. I've found specially video on: http://fms.nu/hEFiC4 All countries should help them from prevent this problem. I think Nuclear Power Plant should permanently close.
