So many feels! After Sex and the City creator Darren Star said last month that Carrie shouldn't have ended up with Mr. Big, star Sarah Jessica Parker weighed in on the widely debated topic.

"As I recall, the way Carrie and Big married was something she wanted," the actress, who portrayed sex columnist Carrie Bradshaw on the HBO hit, told Yahoo Style in a new interview on Monday, February 1. "Rather than [Carrie] feeling that life was slipping away and she best settle quickly. I don’t think of it as someone diminishing herself by letting a man marry her — it always felt that she had arrived at that on her own."

Star — who's now the mastermind behind TV Land's Younger — argued last month that Carrie and Big's union went against the essence of the series. "I think the show ultimately betrayed what it was about, which was that women don't ultimately find happiness from marriage," the producer, 54, said during a Kindle Singles interview. "At the end, it became a conventional romantic comedy. But unless you're there to write every episode, you're not going to get the ending you want."

Though Parker, 50, may not agree with him, she had a positive takeaway. "The beauty is we can all have lots and lots of opinions about lots of choices Carrie made, that we object to, or that we stand by," she told Yahoo. "If that’s Darren’s feeling, I think it’s interesting!”

Sex and the City, which ran from 1998 to 2004, was centered on four girlfriends navigating their careers and love lives in New York City. Parker's character specifically endured several dramatic relationships, including her off-and-on romance with previously married Mr. Big (Chris Noth).

The actress, meanwhile, is currently working on a new HBO series about divorce, with the series being aptly titled Divorce. "I had been working on this idea for a long time and developing it with HBO," said Parker, who is married to Matthew Broderick. "You know, the particular landscape of divorce and the story of a marriage is really interesting to me because it’s so complicated."
