Jon Snow may not know who his father is, but Siri does! Apple’s voice assistant is giving out some pretty big hints about the big reveal from Game of Thrones’ season 6 finale.
Spoiler alert: On this past Sunday’s finale, Bran Stark learned in a vision that Jon Snow’s real parents are actually Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen, not Ned Stark and a random mistress, as Jon has always believed. The reason for the secrecy: It would have caused serious tension — if not outright war and infanticide — if Robert Baratheon knew his close friend Ned was housing the child Rhaegar fathered with the one woman that Robert truly loved. HBO later released an infographic that mapped out Snow’s entire lineage and the most important relationships in the seven kingdoms.
The official Game of Thrones Twitter account pointed out Siri’s spot-on replies on Tuesday, June 28. “Send a raven. It appears Siri watched the Season 6 finale of #GameofThrones,” they tweeted.
If you ask Siri who Jon Snow’s parents are, she has several cryptic responses. “Let’s just say, there’s some fire in this Snow,” she says, referencing House Targaryen’s “fire and blood” catchphrase and close ties to fire-breathing dragons. Some of her others answers are a little more obvious: “To know the history you’ll need to do the math: R + L = J,” spelling out that Rhaegar + Lyanna = Jon!
Other responses start to get a little cheeky. “Like Ned, I promised I wouldn’t tell,” she quips. Another phrase you might hear from the Apple assistant: “I’m sworn to secrecy, but I can tell you that he’s quite a singer.”
Game of Thrones is set to return in 2017 for season 7 and end with season 8. While each season typically has 10 episodes, the GoT cocreators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss confirmed that the final two seasons will be much shorter.
