Swedish pop star and “Talking Body” singer Tove Lo, who’s gearing up for her stateside Queen of the Clouds tour this fall, shared her favorite tracks from Scandinavian artists with Us!

“Dancing On My Own” by Robyn

“This one goes straight to my heart! So painful yet you still have to dance. I feel like no new Swedish songs ever can get away with using that synth sound and pattern. It’s this song’s ID”

PHOTOS: How Swede It Is

“We Are Skeletons” by Urban Cone

“Take five gorgeous Swedish dudes with insane energy, and you get this. I love the lyrics of this song. They always manage to deliver those bittersweet naive feelings of love, and I just wanna find someone to run naked across fields with.”

“Northern Lights” by Kate Boy

“I’m totally in love with the production here. It sounds smooth and feels like a punch in the face at the same time. I love Kate’s voice and I think the line ‘reaching out for the northern lights leave it all behind’ is beautiful. It’s hopeful and dark all at once.”

“Bad Boys” by Zara Larsson

“Vocals and drums are all you need! The melody reminds me a lot of the theme song from a very famous movie all Swedes watched as kids. Zara’s soulful voice over that dance beat of all drums is totally badass.”

“Hurtful” by Erik Hassle

“Few Swedes sing about being the bad guy. This was one of the early ones. Beautiful, painful lyrics. When you see skinny Erik with his red curly afro and freckles, you don’t expect him to have this KILLER soul voice. He sings the s—t out of it!”

“Lean On” by Major Lazer (feat. Mø & DJ Snake)

is my favorite Danish artist and I’ve had this song on repeat forever. I love the lyrics and the way she sings the verses. It’s like she’s screaming softly. And the drop is very cool and less intense than most similar songs. I like that — more of a groover than a headbanger.”

“PStereo” by Emilie Nicolas

“This is a beautiful, very poetic song by my favorite Norwegian. I think the vocal arrangement is just amazing and she sings like a bird. The drummer who produces everything is amazing. This is the only song where the lyrics aren’t super clear to me. But I love it.”
