Katie Holmes has been cast to play the late Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis in the History Channel's upcoming eight-hour miniseries The Kennedys. The 31-year-old actress (and mom to Suri, her 4-year-old with hubby Tom Cruise) will star opposite Greg Kinnear, set to play President John F. Kennedy. Nancy Dubuc, President of the History Channel, tells UsMagazine.com exclusively that Jackie Kennedy is "a role that that Katie's demure elegance will bring to life."

Ugh, no way! She will ruin this. No way she'll get the voice down, and that was Jackie's main trademark. Katie is TOO tall, she's an amazon with thunder thighs and a stupid smirky side smile she can't ever get rid of. No, this will be a joke. The only reason, I bet they got her cheap. She was on a teen show only, years ago I never watched, and she's only made B movies since then. She almost ruined the first Batman movie with Christian Bale, and made a joke of herself promoting it as she only talked about Cruise and not the movie. Obviously they didn't want HER back and replaced her with Maggie in the second one. She only got this or any work because of Cruise. She needs to have another baby and stay home and be a mom only.
The person who should be in this role is Roma Downey. She has already portrayed Jackie and did a good job of it.
I would have LOVED to see Mariska Hargitay playing this role. She would do such an amazing job and the resemblance to Jackie O is fantastic. I know her commitment to SVU wouldn't let her do this but I feel like she could expand her horizons. just don't see Katie fitting this role whatsoever.

She's REALLY taking advantage of her marriage to Tom Cruise. Her name wouldn't have even crossed the minds of the casting directors without it. She's nowhere classy or elegant enough to pay Jackie O as much as she to try to play at it.

This is strange. The History Channel usually gets it right. Mariska Hartigay would be the perfect choice. She can act circles around Katie Holmes and Hartigay looks more like Jackie O. I think Holmes will be a great disappointment in this role. Here's hoping they change their mind before filming begins.

Jackie was a classy lady and charismatic. While Kathy??? I don't think so. Everything Jackie wore looked amazing and ellegant on her, while Kathy?? She doesn't have the charismatic and the ellegant thing like Jackie. Picking Kathy to play Jackie's role is a big mistake.
why do they have this great need to portray her anyway? Its been done there are countless books and besides Katie is way too big boned to play Jackie. Jackie was class while Kate just has money.Such a huge difference.
