Octomom's Doctor Accused of Negligence; License May Be Revoked

Monday – January 04, 2010 – 7:14pm

Octomom's doctor is in trouble.

On Dec. 22, the office of California's Attorney General filed papers against Dr. Michael Kamrava.

Kamrava is the obstetrician/gynecologist who treated Nadya Suleman, 34, who has given birth to 14 children, most of them through IVF, between 1997 and 2008.

In the thirteen-page complaint, Kamrava is accused of gross negligence, repeated negligent acts, and for keeping inadequate records. The document, citing a patient with the initials "N.S.," whose age and profile match Suleman's, recommends that the doctor's license be revoked or suspended.

The office of Attorney General Edmund G. Brown says that Kamrava transferred "a number of blastocyst embryos far in excess of ASRM [American Society for Reproductive Medicine] recommendation and beyond the reasonable judgment of any treating physician."

Among other charges, the complaint (filed before the Medical Board of California and the Department of Consumer Affairs) alleges the Kamrava retrieved too many oocytes from Suleman when frozen embryos were available; that he planted far too many embryros during her final pregnancy (resulting in her octuplets); and that he neglected to recommend a mental health evaluation for Suleman. Suleman, a single mom, returned to Kamrava just four months after a previous pregnancy to get pregnant again in 2007.

UPDATE: TMZ reports that the Medical Board of California  recommends that Kamrava's license be suspended. It concludes, "His failure to recognize that [Suleman's] behavior was outside the norm and that her conduct was placing her offspring at risk for potential harm."

How does anyone know that she didn't want 6 more kids? Because she says so? Since when can anyone believe anything that comes from that phony?? I believe that she had 8 implanted. Unless two of the babies are IDENTICAL that is surely the case. She is a nut job, the children should ALL BE REMOVED from her so called "care" and she should be court ordered not to seek in vitro services from anyone or she will be jailed and any future children taken. Sorry if this sounds harsh to some, but even the MOST COMPETENT PERSON ON EARTH would not be equipped to successfully parent 14 children, at least 10 of whom are babies and she doesn't even qualify as even REMOTELY COMPETENT. I guess we have to wait until one of them drowns while she's not looking or the older ones are running away from home, etc.

I think the good doctor should have to help pay for these 8 children. if you do that then you send the message loud and clear to any fertility specialist. (think about it) and you don't burden the state of california for them being on welfare. who was looking out for the best interest of these children. the first 6 she had or the 8 new babies.sounds like no one.i'd have more respect for this woman if she were flipping burgers. then trying to land a t.v. series. america is fed up seeing people like her exploit their children to make money.GROW UP. and do whats right by your children.

Her doctor should have his license revoked for good, she should be given a hysterectomy, & the kids should be placed w/people who can actually care for them w/o MY tax dollar. I dont mind during hard times but to keep spitting out kids on the basis that the rest of America will pay for them is ludicrous. She's insane & should be treated as such!!!

this broad is NOT a celebrity! She is not "breaking news" either!!! She's a low life who neglects her kids all to make a quick buck. Those kids should be taken away from her. What a tool

I believe the real issue here is, why was this baby maker having this procedure done in the first place? She already had a litter of children she couldn't take care of without assistance! I agree the doctor acted negligently. These procedures are expensive - all he saw were dollar signs. This chick looks anorexic...Angelia Jolie wannabe - bunch of babies, check...skinny like a skeleton....check.....big fake boobs.....check.....

klmgang - Get your facts straight. Nadia did IVF, she KNEW how may babies she was getting to begin with. Kate did fertility drugs. You don't know how many kids you're going to get. Typically its 1, sometimes twins. Getting six from fertility drugs is extremely rare. She is like the 10th person this has happened to ever, in the entire country. She didn't want six more kids, but took what she was dealt instead of opting for elimination.

so many idiots here - SHE is pathetic! obviously a very sick sick person. Kate was married w/2 kids and wasn't trying for 6 kids - Nadia, not married, no job, no money, already HAD 6 kids!

Women like Kate Gosselin and Nadia should all be mentally tested before these procedures are done. I hope they looik it Kates doctor, also.
  • January 04, 2010 - 11:33pm Me Says:

This should have been done a long time ago! I also think she still needs that mental evaluation to evaluate whether her kids need to be taken away or not.

Those are some nifty wheels for an unemployed welfare mom of 14.
  • January 04, 2010 - 11:19pm Melissa Says:

Any doctor should have their license revoked for giving her ivf in the first place after already having so many kids and no means of supporting them. There has got to be a limit to what these doctors will allow. I hope someone puts an end to this woman having more children. It would be different if the kids would be born into a stable family with income. Have all the kids you want as long as you can afford them, thats my theory anyway. But women popping out kids so the state will shell out more tax payers money needs to be stopped! Spay that b-i-t-c-h!

Its about time!! You usually don't place 8 embryos, I've seen people usually get 2 or 3 at a time. He should have had a mental health evaluation done.
