It didn't take very long for the Academy Awards to hire a new producer.

Oscar winner Brian Grazer will replace director Brett Ratner as producer for the 84th Academy Awards, ABC announced Wednesday. He will work with producer Don Mischer on the telecast.

"It's very gratifying to be part of a show that honors excellence in the medium to which I have devoted so much of my career," Grazer tells Us Weekly in a statement. "Don is a legend, and I am excited to work with him."

Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak praised the 60-year-old Apollo 13 producer as a "renowned filmmaker who, over the past 25 years, has produced a diverse and extraordinary body of work. He will certainly bring his tremendous talent, creativity and relationships to the Oscars."

Grazer's other producing credits include A Beautiful Mind, American Gangster, The Da Vinci Code, Inside Man and Changeling.

On Tuesday, Ratner, 42, voluntarily resigned as producer of the Academy Awards following a slew of bad press. While promoting his latest film Tower Heist, the controversial director said "rehearsing is for fags" and went into graphic detail about his sexual relationship with actress Olivia Munn, 31. He has since apologized.

The 84th Academy Awards airs live on February 26, 2012.
