Cheers to the freakin’ weekend! Seth Meyers went day drinking with Rihanna for a hilarious segment on Late Night With Seth Meyers on Thursday, June 20.
The Saturday Night Live alum, 45, took the nine-time Grammy winner, 31, to The Jane Hotel in New York City, where they got into things right away. They started with a shot (“You have to look at me in the eyes,” Rihanna advised) before chugging a beer. Meyers then walked Rihanna over to the bar and told her that he was going to “make a series of drinks based on some” of his favorite songs by her.
First, the late-night host made a cocktail that he dubbed “Under My Rumbrella,” a nod to the singer’s 2007 hit “Umbrella.” It consisted of rum, chocolate rum balls and a scoop of rum raisin ice cream, topped with “a bunch of” cocktail umbrellas. Next up, he made “Diamonds in the Rye,” based on her 2012 single.
When it came time for Meyers to whip up “We Found Veuve in a Hostess Place,” Rihanna was a bit confused. “Wait, we found what?” she asked with a laugh before cautiously instructing Meyers to point the champagne bottle in the opposite direction when he opened it. She didn’t like the drink, to say the least, and ended up casually taking the bottle to the face instead.
For “Bitch Better Have My Bunny,” the comedian poured a shot (or two) of tequila into hallow, headless chocolate bunnies and, well, that was it. “You see, that’s a good drink,” he bragged.
During their daylong rendezvous, the duo also played a drinking game that revolved around guessing where the Fenty clothing designer wore some of her most iconic outfits. Meyers later gave Rihanna the opportunity to ask him “anything that you want” in exchange for some advice. She then returned the favor.
“Your nickname is RiRi. What would be a good nickname for me?” the Emmy winner wondered, to which the Barbados native responded, “Damn, I don’t even know you like that. Like, I have to have a good knowledge of you.” After some careful consideration, Rihanna settled on Seth. Yes, Seth.
Toward the end of the segment, Meyers put on a brave face and allowed the Fenty Beauty founder to do his makeup. He concluded their time together by very drunkenly serenading her with “Work.”
