Casey Kasem's loved ones will gather this weekend to remember the legendary radio host's life, as well as to grieve his death. The American Top 40 founder died on Sunday, June 15, at age 82.
"[Casey's kids] Kerri, Mike, and Julie Kasem will hold a private memorial service for family and friends on Saturday," Kerri's rep tells Us Weekly in a statement, noting that location details are being kept under wraps to ensure that the ceremony stays private.
As previously reported, Kasem died on Father's Day after being hospitalized for an infected bedsore. He had also been suffering Lewy body dementia, and was bedridden for some time leading up to his hospitalization.
"Early this Father's Day morning, our dad Casey Kasem passed away surrounded by family and friends," Kerri wrote on her Facebook page. "Even though we know he is in a better place and no longer suffering, we are heartbroken. Thank you for all your love, support, and prayers. The world will miss Casey Kasem, an incredible talent and humanitarian; we will miss our dad."
In addition to Kerri, Mike, and Julie—his kids from his marriage to first wife Linda Myers—Kasem is survived by his second wife, Jean Kasem, with whom his children were feuding, and their daughter Liberty Jean.
