What a dress! Jennifer Lopez performed her new single, “Feel the Light,” during American Idol on Thursday, March 19 — and her amazing white princess dress became the projection backdrop!
In a huge break from her normal, energetic performance style, the Idol judge, 45, stood totally still as she performed the beautiful ballad from the new animated movie Home, wearing an off-the-shoulder white dress with an enormous circular train.
While she sang the stunning melody (this is the first time Lopez has released a ballad as a single) pictures and visual effects were projected directly onto her voluminous Mariel Haenn gown, literally setting the singer alight with amazing images and backdrops from the film.
The custom-made gown measured a whopping 20 feet in circumference and at times almost completely disappeared as the special effects — including space scenes and bolts of electricity — engulfed the singer as her outfit became part of the scenery.
“Wow,” said show host Ryan Seacrest as Lopez’s performance came to an end. “Can we even continue the show after that?”
This isn’t the only performance of Lopez’s that’s been getting attention this week. On Wednesday, March 18 a new trailer for the much anticipated Spike TV series Lip Sync Battle was released featuring a cameo from the mom-of-two, as a backup dancer for Anna Kendrick!
The video for Lopez’s new single is released later today on Vevo. Watch her entire, breathtaking Idol performance in the video above.
