Still buddies? Shemar Moore gave a shout-out to his former Criminal Minds costar Thomas Gibson, days after the Dharma & Greg alum was fired from the CBS series.
“I wish Thomas nothing but the best,” Moore, 46, told a paparazzo on Tuesday, August 16.
Gibson, 54, was let go from Criminal Minds after allegedly kicking show writer Virgil Williams in the leg during an argument a few weeks ago. The actor, who played Aaron Hotchner on the series since 2005, released a statement to Us Weekly about the situation on August 12.
“I love Criminal Minds and have put my heart and soul into it for the last 12 years. I had hoped to see it through to the end, but that won’t be possible now,” he said. “I would just like to say thank you to the writers, producers, actors, our amazing crew and, most importantly, the best fans that a show could ever hope to have.”
Gibson isn’t walking away quietly, however. The star hired litigator Skip Miller’s law firm, Miller Barondess, to pursue a possible lawsuit over the firing.
Moore, who exited Criminal Minds on his own terms in March, posted a cryptic Instagram video about “karma” following Gibson’s dismissal. Now, he says that the footage was misconstrued, and suggested that it was actually about his recent robbery.
“They spun that all wrong,” he told the paparazzo, as seen in a video posted by Entertainment Tonight. “It could’ve been [about] the guy from the lawsuit. But mostly it’s about life.”
As previously reported, Moore was robbed of more than $60,000 by former guest actor Keith Tisdell. Tisdell was forced to hand over $61,084 to avoid jail time after stealing the money he helped Moore raise for his retail company, Baby Girl LLC, which helps with multiple sclerosis research.
Moore is trying to stay positive amid the scandal. He even teased a possible Criminal Minds comeback.
“They didn’t kill me,” he said of his character Derek Morgan. “I always say, ‘The elevator doors closed. They can always open again.'”
