Another denial! Rita Ora took to Twitter to clear up rumors that she’s “Becky with the good hair” mentioned in Beyoncé’s song “Sorry” from her new visual album, Lemonade.
“I never usually address tabloid gossip but let me be clear, these rumours are false,” she tweeted on Tuesday, April 26. “I have nothing but the upmost respect for Beyonce. Let’s continue enjoying Lemonade.”
The 25-year-old pop star became a target for Beyoncé’s loyal fans after posting a Snapchat photo of herself in Tezenis’ sheer, lemon-inspired lingerie, immediately prompting the Beyhive to brand her as “Becky with the good hair” — the woman Beyoncé slams as being the mistress to her unfaithful lover in “Sorry.” The R pendant that Ora normally wears was also flipped to look like a J in the pic, leading to more speculation that she was referring to Beyoncé’s husband, Jay Z. The “Body on Me” singer signed with Jay’s Roc Nation label in 2008.
Adding fuel to the fire, on Monday, April 25, two days after Lemonade’s release, the “I Will Never Let You Down” songstress stepped out in West Hollywood in the same exact red Gucci top and skirt that Queen Bey, 34, wore in her “Formation” video.
Since posting the first photo, Ora’s social media accounts have been inundated with hurtful comments, along with bee and lemon emojis, which Beyoncé fans use to attack her supposed enemies.
As Us Weekly previously reported, Rachel Roy was also thought to be “Becky” after posting a now-deleted Instagram of herself captioned, “Good hair don’t care.” In a statement, the fashion designer, 42, denied she’s the woman in question on Tuesday, April 26, after both she and her 16-year-old daughter, Ava, were cyberbullied.
