Tearin’ up our hearts! Former ‘N Sync members Lance Bass and Joey Fatone may have finally put an end to the ’90s boy band war. The duo recently performed their own amazing rendition of the Backstreet Boys’ 1999 hit “I Want It That Way” at a karaoke night.
The two singers treated fans aboard Bass’ cruise ship Dirty Pop at Sea to the special show. Though Bass, 36, initially protested based on how high the song is, Fatone, 39, quickly shut down any complaints. “Shut up and sing it,” he instructed.
The crowd screamed and sang along to the chorus as the men belted out the lyrics to the Backstreet Boys tune without much need for the teleprompter. Bass also did great vocal impressions of Backstreet Boys members A.J. McLean and Howie Dorough. The only thing missing: some perfectly choreographed dance moves!
At the end of the song, Fatone took a playful jab at his rival boy band. “I want it that way … Because Backstreet is really gay,” he sang. Bass, who came out as gay around age 21, laughed and said, “That’s homophobic.”
