It’s time for another Girls wedding! The first full trailer for the HBO comedy’s fifth season was released Wednesday, Dec. 2, showing Hannah (Lena Dunham) apparently losing interest in her relationship, while Marnie (Allison Williams) is moving full speed ahead with her own.
The spot reveals that Marnie is about to get hitched to a mystery man, and Hannah, who appears to still be dating Fran (Jake Lacy), has no problem voicing her concerns, as she is known to do.
“She’s going to be married to someone she barely knows,” Hannah tells gay pal Elijah (Andrew Rannells), whom she is seen making out with in the trailer. This is not the first trip to the altar for the show, as Jessa (Jemima Kirke) married Thomas-John (Chris O’Dowd) in Season 1, which ended disastrously. (In September, Williams herself got happily married to College Humor co-founder Ricky Van Veen while Girls was on hiatus.)
Luckily, Hannah is still willing to save the day when Marnie deals with a serious makeup debacle just before her nuptials.
“It’s not insane if we just take it down a little around the face,” Hannah says about Marnie’s surprising new look.
The trailer also shows Hannah looking somber while in bed with Fran, along with Shoshanna’s (Zosia Mamet) new Japan-inspired ‘do and Jessa firing barbs at Hannah.
Shortly after the trailer’s release, Dunham, 29, posted a pic to Instagram of herself and her three co-stars on set in their gorgeous wedding attire.
“Here comes the bride!” the Girls creator captioned the photo. “Because the girls are women now… Sort of.”
A brief teaser trailer released last month featured a clip of Hannah and her mom shaking their groove things at a dance class.
Girls returns Sunday, Feb. 21, at 10 p.m. ET on HBO.
