Holly Robinson Peete says she is done commenting on John Mayer's now-infamous March Playboy interview, in which he dropped the N-word and said he had a crush on the African-American actress.
Before she read the entire interview (not realizing that he had used a racial slur), Peete, 45, told E! News that she was flattered that Mayer, 32, said he had the hots for her.
"I shouldn't have commented on something when I didn’t read the whole thing," she told UsMagazine.com Thursday at the Essence Black Women In Hollywood luncheon in Beverly Hills. "When you put something out there, you can't pull it back. It was a big lesson. It was a viral hot mess. It happened, because I commented on something that I thought was nice. I didn't see all the comments. I'm the one that messed up."
Mayer later apologized, saying that he "should have never said the [N-word] and I will never say it again."
Does Peete accept his apology?
"He has his own issues to deal with," she told Us, "but I do understand that he was remorseful."
