While filming Salt last year, Angelina Jolie says her six children often visited her on set.
"They played with fake blood, and they found mommy very strange in her different hair," she told reporters at a Tokyo press conference.
Jolie, 35, said son Maddox, 8, was surprised when he saw her dressed as a male naval officer in one scene.
When he saw her, she said he reluctantly shook her hand — because he didn't know it was actually his mother.
"I said, 'Honey, it's mommy,'" Jolie recalled, telling reporters that she then began to peel off her fake ears, hands and nose. "I think I freaked him out."
She noted that her six kids don't see all her movies. Said the Oscar-winning actress, "I think it's very hard for them to see someone trying to kill their mom, even if she wins."
Despite her myriad film roles, "I'm always in every minute their mom first," Jolie said. "I'm a bit of a goofy. I'm funny at home, I think."
How does Jolie balance work and her family?
"Brad is the word that makes it possible," she told reporters, adding that he is truly "a wonderful father."
