Hugh Jackman is most famous for assuming the role of Wolverine in the X-Men film franchise, but the Australian actor got his start initial industry start on the stage.
Appearing in the Melbourne production of Beauty and the Beast as Gaston, Jackman later traveled to London to star in a staging of Oklahoma! in the West End.
Jackman married actress Deborra-Lee Furness in 1996, after they met while filming the Australian TV series Correlli one year prior. The duo share two adoptive children: Oscar Maximillian (born in 2000) and Ava Eliot (born in 2005). Jackman and Furness announced their separation in September 2023 after 27 years of marriage.
Jackman came to New York City to perform a role in Carousel at Carnegie Hall in 2002. Later, the actor took on the role of Peter Allen in The Boy From Oz, earning a Tony Award in 2004.
In addition to his X-Men roles, Jackman has been seen in films including Swordfish, The Prestige and The Fountain. Jackman is currently celebrating the success of X-Men Origins: Wolverine, which was released in May 2009.
