Brooklynite Adam Sandler has taken his quirky comedic shtick from music (“The Chanukah Song”) to stand-up to the big screen, where he has starred in over a dozen movies and has grossed hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office.
After getting his start on The Cosby Show, Sandler’s off-the-wall humor helped him break through on Saturday Night Live. The star of goofball knee-slappers like You Don’t Mess With the Zohan, Happy Gilmore and The Waterboy, Sandler has mostly stuck to the gimmicky persona that made him famous. He has, however, consistently tried to establish himself as a “serious” actor with efforts in Punch-Drunk Love and Reign Over Me.
Sandler, who has a child from a previous relationship, had his first daughter, Sadie, with wife Jackie Titone, in 2006. The couple welcomed their second daughter, Sunny Madeline, in 2008.
