Netflix is famous for its high-profile films like The Rip with Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, but it also streams some under-the-radar pictures you’ve never heard of before.
Watch With Us is highlighting two of those films this week, with the black comedy Arizona and the action-thriller Black and Blue at the top of our binge-watch list.
We’ve also made room for a new Netflix original, Roommates, which stars Adam Sandler’s daughter, Sadie, in a comedy about the fraught relationship between two college freshmen.
‘Roommates’ (2026)
The first year of college is filled with incredible highs, depressing lows and the inevitability of gaining 10 pounds thanks to an overly generous meal plan. That’s especially true for Devon (Sadie Sandler), a gawky freshman who just wants to fit in. She thinks she can by asking the impossibly cool Celeste (Chloe East) to be her dorm roommate — and hopefully, her best friend. But the road to Devon’s popularity is filled with potholes, and she’ll have to reconcile with the fact that Celeste might be her enemy instead of her friend.
Roommates is a refreshing coming-of-age comedy that depicts college life as it is today — loud, scary and ripe with opportunities to embarrass yourself. The film is bolstered by its stellar supporting cast, which includes Natasha Lyonne, Nick Kroll, Strom Reid and, of course, Sadie’s famous dad, Adam Sandler.
Roommates is streaming on Netflix.
‘Arizona’ (2018)
Single-mom realtor Cassie’s (Rosemarie DeWitt) bad day just got a whole lot worse when her jerk boss is suddenly killed by Sonny (Danny McBride). He takes her hostage to keep her from snitching on him, but when Sonny’s annoying wife shows up, he kills her too. Without any options, Sonny decides to kidnap Cassie’s teenage daughter, Morgan (Lolli Sorenson), to keep her quiet — or else Morgan will join a rapidly growing graveyard in Sonny’s backyard.
Arizona is an unusual dark comedy thriller — with a heavy emphasis on the dark part. The movie is shockingly violent, but somehow, McBride’s deranged Sonny makes you laugh at all the carnage. The movie, set during the 2009 real estate housing crisis, is a vague metaphor for lower-middle-class rage at a system that let them down, but it works better as a nasty little satire about all-too-easily wounded masculinity.

‘Black and Blue’ (2019)
Rookie New Orleans cop Alicia West (Naomie Harris) is about to experience the worst night of her life while patrolling the streets with new partner Deek Brown (James Moses Black). When she sees him and other cops execute some drug dealers, she makes a run for it, but how long can she last in a neighborhood filled with Deek’s pals and residents who hate all cops, innocent and guilty? Alicia’s only salvation lies with Mouse Jackson (Tyrese Gibson), an old friend who may not want to risk his life to save hers.
An unexpected hit on Netflix in April, Black and Blue is a taut thriller about dirty cops who want to kill one of their own to cover up their crime. The movie keeps raising the stakes, with Alicia pursued by the drug dealers’ boss, who thinks she killed them, resulting in a thriller that never lets up. Best known for Moonlight and last year’s Mickey 17, Harris is sensational as a woman who needs to keep two steps ahead of her enemies to survive.
Black and Blue is streaming on Netflix.
