Let’s be honest: Halle Berry knows she has a killer physique.
During her nearly three decades in Hollywood, “I have managed to stay in great shape,” the Oscar winner admitted in a January Instagram post. “Part of it is genetics — that’s true. I was a gymnast growing up, and that certainly has helped, as I have always been very athletic.”
But where DNA stops, her Ketogenic lifestyle — an extremely low-carb, high-fat program — and fitness regimen kick in. Now, at 52, Berry admits, she’s in “the best shape of my life.”
It’s a hard-earned feat. In fact, her trainer of more than three years, Peter Lee Thomas — “the man who changed my life” and “my secret weapon,” raves Berry — credits her unwavering motivation with helping her stay lean. “She’s one of those special individuals who, even if she has one to two hours of sleep, she’ll get work done,” he tells Us. “It will take a lot for her to say, ‘Hey, I can’t train today.’
Five days a week, the actress is committed to training with Thomas, who alternates her workouts between yoga, boxing, cardio and weights. (Even on days off, the L.A. resident will go hiking with friends!) The goal, according to Thomas, is “to make sure we get a really good sweat.”
And to emphasize her already seriously cut abs. Since welcoming daughter Nahla, 10, and son Maceo, 5 (with exes Gabriel Aubry and Olivier Martinez, respectively), she “has a really strong desire to keep her stomach fit,” Thomas explains to Us. “She definitely loves to train her core, but she also knows the importance of full-body connection and fitness.”
More importantly, perhaps, the Catwoman star knows her full potential. Thanks to Thomas and his martial arts training, “I can actually defend myself and most importantly… my children!” she shared on Instagram in January. “As a woman, there is nothing more empowering.”
The Keto diet is all about shifting metabolic gears. Instead of getting energy from glucose from a high-carb diet, a Keto diet generates ketones for fuel. According to Registered Dietitian and SlimFast Plan Consultant Maryann Walsh, a cup of coffee with SlimFast Keto Creamer is great alongside a meal like a veggie omelet with avocado in the morning.
