Jessica Simpson is putting the “little” back in “little black dress.” In her newest commercial for Weight Watchers — posted to the diet franchise’s YouTube channel on Tuesday, Feb. 18 — the 33-year-old mom-of-two shows off her newly slimmed-down figure in a series of sexy LBDs.
“This body made two amazing little human beings [daughter Maxwell, 21 months, and son Ace, 7 months]. I love this body and what it’s capable of — no matter what size. But this version,” she says, gesturing to her svelte physique, “feels really good. My body, like my life, is a work in progress, but I’m getting there, with Weight Watchers.”
Speaking about her weight-loss struggles in an interview with Good Morning America on Tuesday, Simpson admitted she was “so insecure” about her body after giving birth to daughter Maxwell in 2012. “I couldn’t even believe what I weighed,” she told GMA‘s Bianna Golodryga. “I don’t think that I ever expected myself to see the numbers that I have seen on the scale.”
That said, she doesn’t think any woman should be ashamed of pregnancy weight gain. “You are creating a life, and honestly it’s not easy,” she explained. “It is a really hard thing to go through. And you deserve to eat your ice cream, you deserve to have your pancakes. Do whatever you want to do and then afterwards just know that you have to work really hard.”
The fashion mogul has indeed worked hard. And she’s not slowing down, either. With two kids, a successful fashion line, and an upcoming wedding to plan with fiance Eric Johnson, she definitely has her hands full. But she’s hoping there’s still room for one more thing in her life: a return to music.
“I want to sing again,” the “Public Affair” crooner told Golodryga. “I want my daughter to see me onstage. My fiance has never even watched me perform. Which is crazy. But that is my passion, that is my love. Like, that is everything that I am.”
