We’re not kitten you. Us Weekly tried kitten yoga and it was everything we wanted and more. From downward-facing cat to the cat-cow pose, Us Weekly video correspondent Christina Garibaldi and Senior Entertainment Editor Jamie Blynn rolled out their yoga mats and tried it all. The class was held on April 12 to celebrate not only Best Friends Adoption Center’s one-year anniversary in New York City, but also to raise awareness about kitten season, which lasts from February through November when animal shelters are inundated by homeless and orphaned kitties who are looking for a home.
Yoga instructor Christina Gdisis, who is also the foster coordinator at the center, instructed the hour-long sesh while adoptable kittens climbed on backs, pounced from one person to the next and even tried out their own cat poses.
So how did we do? It wasn’t a total cat-astrophe! “It was so fun! I’m never doing an exercise without animals,” Blynn said.
“It makes everything so much better,” Garibaldi agreed. “It was very relaxing, I’m not very good at yoga, but the cats made it so much better!”
All of the adorable felines who participated are currently up for adoption at Best Friends Animal Society. If you want to try your own paw at kitten yoga, the center is hosting two more kitten yoga sessions that are open to the public on May 17 and June 14 at 9:30 a.m. ET.
