Mama June Shannon has come a long way. The once 460-pound Here Comes Honey Boo Boo alum now has a closet filled with size 4 jeans thanks to a May 2016 gastric sleeve surgery.
But Shannon — who revealed in April that she had lost 300 pounds — is only human. And she slipped up a little bit during the holiday season. “I’ve put on like five or 10 pounds,” the From Not to Hot star revealed during a visit to the Us Weekly offices with her daughter Alana “Honey Boo Boo” Thompson on Wednesday, January 3.
“I’m beating myself up because I know in the last three or four months I’ve gained, like, seven pounds,” the 38-year-old told Us. “It won’t come off.”
Shannon, who has been busy promoting season 2 of her WE tv show, admits she’s fallen into some old snacking habits while on the road. And because Shannon weighs herself several times a day, she’s hyper aware of every single pound.
“She’s a scale fanatic,” Alana told Us, adding that she is pleasantly surprised her mom has maintained her weight loss. “I’m not trying to be a hater,” the 12-year-old confessed. “But when she first started, in the back of my mind, I was like, ‘She won’t . . . keep it of!”
Meanwhile, Shannon has a new romance to go with her new body. “It’s been a good, probably, 15 years since I’ve been this happy. He’s one of a kind I have to say,” she told Us of her suitor, who will be revealed on her reality show. It’s safe to say Shannon’s boyfriend feels the same way about her: the never-married TV personality is wearing a diamond ring on that finger.
When asked by Us if she is ready to walk down the aisle, Shannon replied: “I would say for the first time in my life, maybe.”
