On Tuesday, October 23, the Pitch Perfect star debuted a slimmer figure in a red wrap dress with a pencil skirt. She was enjoying a dinner out with a female friend at Craig’s in West Hollywood.

In July, star trainer Gunnar Peterson revealed to Us that he was working with Wilson. “When she’s in town, she’s a solid four days a week,” the L.A.-based pro told Us. “She is such a cool person to work with.”

Peterson — who counts Khloé Kardashian, Kate Beckinsale and Sylvester Stallone as just a few of his A-list clients — focuses on a mix of cardio, weights and high-intensity interval training (HIIT).

When it comes to Wilson’s workouts, the trainer says the funny lady takes their sessions seriously. “As much as I encourage levity throughout the workout, during the workout it’s work,” he says. “But in between, we’re going to trade a pleasantry or a joke or a jab. Rebel’s right there with you. She’s clever and funny and smart. I love being around people like that. That’s why I like this job.”

As one of Peterson’s star pupils, the 38-year-old Australian would engage in workouts based on “peripheral heart action,” says the pro. “It’s forcing the blood to go from upper extremity to lower extremity sequentially, so that you elicit a response from the heart rate… You’re creating an aerobic response in what would normally be viewed as anaerobic movements.”

He goes on to outline the intense specifics of the exercise sessions: “Sometimes it’s just a straight run on a treadmill. And sometimes, it’s toe-touches to a step with a medicine ball over head. And we put that in for 30 seconds, 45 seconds, 60 seconds, up to two minutes, bang, bang, bang, bang, bang. Switch it back. It goes from a pushup with a T-raise — so you push up and rotate the body — right into a squat. So there’s upper body, lower body. Then we go into maybe a standing abs selection movement with a band. So there’s core. Then we put one of those high-intensity intervals in. Then we repeat.”

While Wilson enjoys working out, she’s always been proud of her curves — and has said they helped her Hollywood career. “Being unique and different was a really good thing,” the star told Cosmopolitan U.K. in 2016. “When I walked into my agent’s office for the first time, they looked at me and said, ‘Wow, we have nobody on our books like you.’ And they signed me on my second day here.”

The Isn’t It Romantic actress added, “I wouldn’t ever want to compete with what I call ‘the glamours’ — the really gorgeous people. I’m about the brain, the heart and what’s on the inside. I feel really lucky to be the body type I am.”
