No matter how cut he is, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson knows he can always improve on his muscle mass. As he captioned a shirtless pic of his ripped, six-pack abs and bulging biceps on Instagram October 21, “Dialed in & hit the mark. 260lbs of attitude & classy cuss words.”
The actor revealed that he worked on his chiseled body to shoot Hobbs and Shaw, a spin-off of the Fast and Furious franchise, that’s scheduled for an August 2019 release. His even tighter physique, he wrote, formed “after 18 weeks of disciplined diet & intense training.”
As he noted in the caption for his photo, which was taken in the weight room of a gym, it takes a village to form such a hulking frame. “Huge THANKS to my strength and conditioning coach @daverienzi [Dave Rienzi] for his masterful strategies that’s constantly shifting daily based on how I’m looking/feeling to achieve our goals,” he wrote. The star continued, “THANKS to EVERYONE in my inner circle (including the NASA scientists 😉) who support the big picture – my diet, training, health & wellness, balance, consistency and execution.”
The former WWE wrestler, 46, joined the car racing movie franchise in 2011’s Fast Five as U.S. diplomatic security agent Luke Hobbs. He quickly became a fan favorite and has been in every Fast movie since then, including the latest installment, The Fate of the Furious (2017). Shaw is played by fellow Fast actor, Jason Statham.
Johnson frequently shares workout photos with his millions of Instagram followers and has also been open about his diet, including his cheat days. In his latest post — in which he copped to being a “#NightlyTequilaDrinker” — he also expressed his appreciation for all his supporters. “Finally, THANKS TO ALL THE FANS. My people out there worldwide 🌎 who buy into our grind belief and my philosophy that payin’ our dues is owed on a daily basis,” wrote the father of three. “Thanks for rockin’ with me — let’s have some fun and take this HOBBS & SHAW franchise to the next level.”
