Amy Schumer is celebrating a parenting success.

“This women [sic] just threw her first bday party as a single mom,” Schumer, 44, wrote via her Instagram Story on Sunday, May 3, alongside a selfie with facepaint on her cheek.

Schumer went on to share a series of snaps from her son Gene’s celebration, including her interacting with the guests while eating cake. The festive treat featured ninja stars, a sword and a banner that read, “Happy 7th Birthday Gene!”

She also uploaded several images of animals she took while at the Central Park Zoo in New York City and smiled while posing with Gene, whose face she covered with emojis.

“Thanks to @centralparkzoo for the best birthday party a kid could ask for!” Schumer wrote via Instagram on Sunday. “Thanks @thecakenyc and @shellyluanartgallery for our cool face paint and everyone who came. Feeling so much love and support! @projectparty_nyc for the fly lil step and repeat!”

In the comments section, several of Schumer’s pals shared their support. “Great Mom right there!” Rebel Wilson wrote, while Kathy Hilton added, “🎂🎈🎈🎈🎈🎈💕💕💕💕🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🌸🌸🌸🌸😍.”

Schumer welcomed son Gene with Chris Fischer in 2019, one year after they tied the knot in an intimate ceremony in Malibu. After seven years of marriage, Schumer confirmed in 2025 that she and Fischer had split.

“Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years,” Schumer wrote via Instagram at the time. “We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time.”

Schumer, who shared a throwback image of her and Fischer riding the NYC subway together, noted in her caption that she did not split from her ex because “I dropped some lbs” or because he is a “hot” James Beard “award winning chef who can still pull some hot tail. Amicable and all love and respect! Family forever.”

Schumer officially filed for divorce in January, submitting paperwork with the New York Supreme Court, according to docs obtained by Us Weekly at the time. Per the filing, the case type is listed as “matrimonial — uncontested.”

In the months since, Schumer has been candid about navigating the separation. While celebrating Valentine’s Day in February, Schumer shared a selfie posing in a makeshift “crying corner.”

“Give yourself all the love today,” Schumer wrote via her Instagram Story at the time, adding, “Happy vday.”
