Making time for both! Busy Philipps filled her Instagram followers in on what it’s really like to be a mom trying to balance career and family.
“Being a working parent sometimes is unbelievably heartbreaking and hard but thank god for FaceTime (even if it’s blurry),” the Busy Tonight star, 39, captioned a photo of herself watching her daughter’s recital via the video chat system on Friday, December 7.
The Cougar Town alum is the mother of daughters Birdie, 10, and Cricket, 5, with husband Marc Silverstein.
Philipps was in New York City on Friday to appear on Good Morning America. The This Will Only Hurt a Little author documented her travels on her Instagram Story on Thursday, December 6. In one video, she grew emotional while listening to music but assured her fans, “Don’t worry I’m fine. It’s just been a long life.”
She added in another post: “I also cry: on planes, in cars, working out, in the shower, at work, in bed.”
The Dawson’s Creek alum also posted a selfie on Instagram on Friday. “Its really cold here,” she wrote. “Also I slept 3 hours and am going to try to talk on live TV, wish me luck!”
Philipps opened up to Us Weekly in November about raising her kids with Silverstein, 47. “I think the key to coparenting with anyone, whether you’re in the same house or separate houses, is being able to tap out if you need to or if you can’t figure out how to effectively parent on a scenario,” she explained at the time. “That’s what we’ve just learned over the last 10 years. You have to be able to, you know, look to the other person and say, ‘I really don’t know what to do here. What do we do?’”
She went on to share what is on Birdie and Cricket’s Christmas lists too. “Birdie wants a phone and phone cases and slime stuff. She’s very into slime,” she revealed to Us. “We just got back from Disney and she asked for a season pass to Disneyland and I said, ‘Well, girlfriend, that’s fine, but who’s gonna take you?’ I work and Marc works. She hasn’t figured that out yet.”
Meanwhile, Cricket “just wants everything,” according to her famous mom. “Every toy she sees, she’s like, ‘I want that.’”
