Good Morning America

Network: ABC

ABC’s morning television program Good Morning America (GMA) premiered in November 1975, eventually rising to the top of the ratings to become the most-watched morning show. Broadcasting live from Times Square Studios in New York City, GMA features news, weather, special-interest stories and a variety of recurring segments such as “Pop News” and the “GMA Heat Index.”

Coanchors Robin Roberts, George Stephanopoulos and Michael Strahan currently lead the show, along with entertainment anchor Lara Spencer and weather anchor Ginger Zee. Notable former on-air staff include Diane Sawyer, Chris Cuomo, Amy Robach and Stephen Colbert. From 2007 to 2009, GMA earned three consecutive Daytime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Morning Program, sharing its first win with competitor Today.

The success of GMA later prompted the creation of GMA Lunch Break, GMA Deals and the afternoon news hour GMA3.
