Lara Spencer

Lara Spencer is an Emmy-winning television anchor and host best known for her work on Good Morning America and HGTV’s Flea Market Flip. Spencer grew up on Long Island in New York and attended Pennsylvania State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism in 1991. While at Penn State, she competed in Division I swimming and diving and was named an All-American springboard diver.

Spencer began her television career at WDEF-TV in Chattanooga, Tennessee, before working at News 12 Long Island and WABC-TV in New York. She joined Good Morning America as a national correspondent in 1999. She later served as an anchor of The Insider from 2004 to 20011 before returning to Good Morning America shortly after her departure.

Spencer is a six-time Emmy Award winner and has produced and hosted several television programs, including Antiques Roadshow, Flea Market Flip, Everything But the House and That Thrifting Show with Lara Spencer. She is also the author of the New York Times bestsellers I Brake for Yard Sales (2012) and Flea Market Fabulous (2014).

Spencer married former CNNfn journalist David Haffenreffer in 2000. They share two children, Duff (born in 2002) and Katharine (born in 2004). The pair divorced in 2015. She later wed tech entrepreneur Rick McVey in 2018.
